An Elegant Morning

 Warm light streamed in from the window bringing me back to consciousness.

 When I opened my eyes, a pure white ceiling spread before me. As I slowly raised my body, I found myself in a small room.

「Aah, that’s right. This was the house in the Howling village」

 I had been sleeping in the mansion back in the royal capital until yesterday that I was confused by the completely different scale of the interior I am in.

 It may not seem less impressive compared to the mansion, but this is what a normal house is like.

 Getting up from the bed while rubbing my eyes, I pulled back the curtain in one go and opened the window.

 Then, the clear air of Howling village entered the bedroom.

 The wind that came in forcefully lifted my bands. It’s almost summer, but the temperature is still comfortable in the early morning.

 It’s probably because this place is not surrounded by asphalt like in my previous world, so the heat doesn’t accumulate.

 Beautiful grassy plain spread out outside and there is a forest beyond that.

 My heart calms down when I look at the beautiful nature. The contrast between the blue sky and the green ground is wonderful.

 Basking in the wind for a while, I then took off my pajamas and changed into casual clothes.

 I’m not wearing clothes with the usual merchant style, but clothes that give me the appearance of ‘villager A’.

 Life in Howling village is not as gorgeous as the one in the royal capital. There’s no need to put on airs since there are no business partners here. It’s fine to be true to myself here.

 After changing my clothes into the totally unremarkable villager clothes, I left my bedroom and went downstairs to the living room.

 After washing my face in the washstand, I went straight to the kitchen and lit up the magic stove.

 Placing the frying pan on the stove and pouring some oil on it, I then cracked eggs I took out from the subspace.

 The sounds of oil bursting resounded in the kitchen.

 While I’m making fried eggs, I continue to take out a flat plate from the cupboard, a loaf of bread, lettuce, sliced bacon, tomatoes, and cheese from my subspace.

 By the time I finished taking them all out, the fried eggs were ready so immediately put the other ingredients between the bread to make a sandwich.

「Simple, subspace sandwich is ready」

 All you have to do it to take out the ingredients from the subspace, grill, cut, and sandwich the ingredients, anyone can probably make it.

 Normally, I would sit at the table and eat my meal properly, but there is only myself in this place.

 Since the nagging Elza is not here, I eat the sandwich while standing in the kitchen.

 The salty bacon and the taste of the cheese go well with the bread. And, the fresh lettuce and tangy tomato gently wrap that flavor.

 The somewhat firm egg yolk of the fried eggs also gave a nice accent to the flavor.

 Even with all these ingredients, the bread is truly amazing to be able to bring them all together.

 Being able to enjoy a sandwich alone without being disturbed by anyone is really the best.

 Since Elza and the others came from a good upbringing, they would admonish me if they were to see me eating while standing.

 However, this is my own world. There is no one to admonish me and I can behave freely.

 It’s the privilege of living alone as I please.

 Tighten when you need to tighten and loosen when you need to loosen up. Being able to switch your mindset like this is probably the advantage of having a dual-based lifestyle.

「Thank you for the meal」

 After I finished eating my sandwich, I continued to wash the flat plate in the sink.

 We had a sumptuous dinner last night so I’m fine with this much for breakfast.

 After finishing breakfast, I put on my sandals and head out from the back door.

 There, a vast expanse of grass is overgrown. It was just that kind of scene, but just being surrounded by greenery like this has a calming effect on the mind.

 I took a slow and deep breath and smelled the smell of earth and grass while basking in the morning sunlight.

「I wonder if this will loosen up my slightly stiff body」

 I felt like moving around to exercise a little, so I energetically started doing radio calisthenics.

 How nostalgic. Back when I was still an elementary school student, I would work hard doing radio calisthenics in a park nearby to get stamps and sweets.

「Kureto, morningー!」

 As I was twisting and stretching my body, Nina came over and called out to me cheerfully.

 She probably saw me in the backyard when she went outside the house and called out to me.

 It was just that small thing, but just having someone greet you in the morning can brighten your mood.

「Morning, Nina」

「What are you doing?」

「Just exercising for a bit, or rather loosening up my body」

 Perhaps she was interested in the strange movements I made as Nina stood beside me.

 I had finished half of the calisthenics, but I decided to start from the beginning again for Nina’s sake.

「That might be true, but doing these movements will make your body feel refreshed y’knowー」

 Although the exercise was considered scientific, from the clueless-Nina’s perspective, it seemed like strange movements and she laughed at each movement. 

 Doing a radio calisthenic in the morning with your neighbor. What a peaceful scene.

「Now we’re done」

「Ehehe, it was kinda fun!」

「Good morning, Kureto-san」

 After we finished our radio calisthenic while laughing together, Stella greeted me with a smile on her face.

「Good morning, Stella-san」

「I’m sorry you have to take care of Nina first thing in the morning」

「No, I’m the one being taken care of」

 Having a cute little girl accompanying me is enough to give me energy for the whole day.

「Nina, it’s time to work in the fields」

「Yeeーss! Kureto, see you!」

「Aah, see you」

 So we said our goodbyes but since Andre’s fields can still be seen from here, so they remain in sight.

 This seems characteristic of the neighborhood that makes me smile.

 Now then, since I’ve finished the calisthenics and Nina is no longer here, I have free time.

 I really felt keenly that Nina was accompanying me.

「Well, enjoying free time like this is nice」

 I take out a chair from my subspace and sit on it.

 It’s really nice to relax and cool off in the shade.

「I could grill some sausage just like Andre said before, but I just had my breakfast earlier」

 Eating something like that makes me want to drink wine to go along with it, but I wonder if it’s okay to do that in the morning.

 No, drinking in the morning is also nice, but I feel like taking it easy today.

 As sat on the chair absent-mindedly, a refreshing, strong breeze blew.

 And along with that, the forest ahead rustled loudly zaaazaaa.

「Come to think of it, I made something a while ago that I never used before」

 Watching the trees made me remember something, I immediately stood up and moved.

 Thanks to the dense foliage, the forest is cool and shaded.

 Perhaps it’s because there is a stream nearby that it was strangely cool and there was also the refreshing sound of water.

「Un, this place should do」

 After checking the thickness and the space between the trees, I took out a handmade hammock from the subspace.

 There was some leftover rope back in Emilio’s company, so I borrowed it and made a hammock in my spare time.

 And after securely wrapping it around two trees, I tied it up to complete it.

 After touching and checking the hammock to make sure it won’t fall, I slowly placed my feet on it and lay down.

 As soon as I climbed onto the hammock, it started to sway unsteadily, but then it immediately settled down.

 My weight was supported by the ropes and soon I was enveloped by the unique floating sensation.

 But, it’s so easy and comfortable.

 I can faintly see the blue sky from the gaps in the trees, and the sunlight filtering through the leaves falling on my body.

「Using a hammock in the woods is the best」

 It might also be a good idea to set up a hammock in the house and sleep on it.

 As I closed my eyes and surrendered to the comfortable feeling of weightlessness, I felt the presence of people.

 Reflexively opening my eyes, I saw the figures of Nina looking greatly interested and Stella smiling wryly.

「……hey hey, Kureto. What is this?」

「This is a tool used to sleep outdoors called a hammock….What happens with your fieldwork?」

「Well, I mean, Kureto does something that looks interesting so I got curious!」

 I asked that since I was curious and then Nina replied like that while puffing out her cheeks.

 I see. I guess she saw me lying down on the hammock from the field, huh? Being the curious kid that she is, this must have been very curious about it.

 I should have thought about Nina a little more and hung it in a place where it wouldn’t be seen.

「I’m sorry about this」

「Heyーheyー, I also want to climb too」

「Ah, okay. I will hold it down so you can lay down 」

「Yayー!」

「I’m sorry, we will return immediately after you let her try it a little bit」

「Please don’t worry about it」

 Stella apologetically said after I got out of the hammock.

 This is my fault so it’s not something Stella should apologize about.

「Here, get in here」

「Un!」

 For now, I hold down the hammock with my hands to let Nina get in.

 After making sure that Nina has lied down properly I slowly let go of my hands.

「Uwaaー, this is so much fun!」

 Nina lets out such an innocent remark while lying in the hammock.

 It looks like Nina had ended up being completely captivated by the hammock.

「I’m going to rock itー」

「Kyaー! Ahaha!」

「Nina, are you satisfied? It’s time to return to the field」

 As we were playing around and teasing each other, Stella announced the end of our game not long after.

「Kaasan should also try this too! This is really fun!」

「Eeh? Me too?」

 However, instead of going home, Nina began to urge Stella to switch places and try it.

 Apparently, she wanted to share the fun of the hammock with her.

「Come on, lie down!」

「Please」

「Tha, thank you very much」

 When Nina and I held down the hammock for her, Stella nervously lay down in it.

「Ah, this is nice.....」

「Right, right?」

「――haa! We can’t relax like this! We have to do our fieldwork!」

 After closing her eyes for three minutes in the hammock, I guess her reasoning power returned to her as she suddenly returned to her senses.

「Ehー, let’s just make today a day to play in the hammock」

 What a peaceful day that is. I might try it sometime when I have free time.

「No. The crops are also alive just like us. We have to take good care of them. Let’s go」

「Yeeaaーh, Bye, Kureto」

 Stella leaves as if she wouldn’t succumb to the temptation anymore while Nina looks disappointed at that.

 In the evening, Andre came along with Nina so I set up the hammock again and let them use it.
